| Original 1930's beautiful gown. This may be late 1920's. Luxious soft velvet.
May be a silk velvet. Cut on the bias, with billowy sleeves. Smocking at the breast an shoulder area. Rhinestone button closure. Glamorous vintage movie star style. It is in excellent shape for it's age. With only 4 TINY pin holes in the fabric, that you can't see unless you hold up to the light looking from the inside out and there are string belt loops on either side, but there wasn't any belt. The belt we imagine would have been of matching fabric with a rhinestone dress ornament or buckle. You can easily cut these loops off. There is also a small split on the seam on the right side of the gown, This is an EASY fix.
Someone has added snaps to the sleeves, You may remove these and put them where you like. The measurements are as follows... so please pay close attention, there are no returns on this parrticular gown and all sales are final, so be sure it will fit you.
The waist is 14" measured flat, so that would make it a 28" waist. The sleeves are approx 26" fromt he neck and 13 1/2" wide! The chest is approx. 16" across from armpit to armpit. So perhaps a 32" bust. The hips are 27" across, so that would be a 54" hip. The length is 53 1/2" long from the shoulder. There is no "give" to this gown, so be sure it fits. There is no wear to the fabric on the hem which would have been typical, but it does look like a slightly darker, slightly brownish shade( not at all noticable when worn and hard to see at all) which is probably from surface dirt. This has not been cleaned, and the only part which may look like it needs any cleaning is the hem area. But you can be the judge, we are being fussy. If you do take this to a cleaners, you must take this to a trust worthy cleaners, who is experienced with vintage items. OR if you are lucky to have a steam cleaner at home. As with any velvet fabric it does have some creases. And it may crease more in transit. This can not be avoided due to the nature of ther fabric. Of course this will be folded and shipped ina box. We suggest unpacking immediately and hanging, and then steaming. Original gowns of this vintage are getting tougher and tougher to find in tact.
